Local Attractions
One of the most popular attractions from San Pedro is the half day trip to Shark Ray Alley and the Hol Chan Marine Reserve which is just 4 miles south of San Pedro. On the out in the boat, watch out for flying fish and rays jumping out of the water.
Located just inside the reef, Shark Ray Alley is where the fishermen stop to clean their catch and so as your boat is heard, the sharks and Rays gather in anticipation of a feast, sometimes making the waters ‘boil’ with movement. Of course the reef and sea also offer some excellent opportunities for fishing, snorkeling and diving. Some exciting tours to the mainland can also be arranged including trips to Mayan ruins such as Lamanai, Altun Ha or Xunantunich, cave tubing, jungle treks, zip lining or to the Belize Zoo.
Insider Info
The Royal Caribbean Resort is located not just close to the dock for the mainland boats but also close to the dock for the glass bottom boat which can provide some exceptional opportunities to see the vast array of different colored fish that inhabit the reef.
