Located in the foothills of the Maya Mountains of Belize among 100 acres of manicured fruit trees and flowers, the Windy Hill Resort offers guests a tropical setting for enjoying the most diverse area of the country with an assortment of mountains, jungle, caves and rivers to explore plus visits to architectural ruins of the Maya.
Windy Hill Resort is located 70 miles from Belize City but only 2 miles from the principle town of San Ignacio in the Cayo District. This is an ideal location for touring the mountainous and forested regions of Belize, with all the adventurous activities that they provide.
The resort offers two types of accommodation, cottages with air-conditioning or standard rooms with or without air-conditioning but all rooms have ceiling fans and television.
Food & Dinning
The resort restaurant has a full á la carte menu and can provide packed lunches for taking on tours, if requested. There is also a fully stocked bar available for relaxing drinks after a hard day’s touring.
The amenities at this resort include an outside pool, a fitness centre, a tour desk and gift shop. The resort also has its own air conditioned tour vehicles fully equipped for safety and comfort during tours that are accompanied by the resort’s own professional guides.
Staff & Service
The resort’s policy of always placing the comfort of the guests as their first priority, is reflected in the hospitable and co-operative manner of its staff, from those in the resort complex to those on the tours.
The nearby Maya Mountains offer a great deal of diverse and exciting actives including jungle trekking, zip lining, caving, bird watching and canoeing.
Some of the more popular local activities include horseback riding and night treks into the jungle but many opt for the various tours which include ones to Barton Creek for river canoeing or Caracol, Mayan ruins discovered in 1938 and to Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) cave which entails hiking a jungle trail, crossing a river chest deep in water but if you prefer a more traditional past time, you could travel 45 minutes to the Roaring Creek Jungle Golf Course for a round of 9 holes literally cut into the jungle.
The Guatemalan border crossing is just a 15 minute drive from the resort and so trips can be arranged to cross the border to visit the famous Mayan ruins at Tikal in Flores.
